UFC veteran Frank Mir reveals the details of emergency vertebral surgery

The return of the veteran of the UFC and Bellator, Frank Mir, with the GFL was suspended.

This is because early Monday morning, Mir revealed on Instagram That he recently “underwent a merger and an emergency laminectomy of (all) thoracic spine”. According to Johns Hopkins MedicineLaminectomy is a “type of surgery in which a surgeon eliminates part or the entire vertebral bone (blade).

In his article, Mir (19-13) expressed his optimism to recover completely.

“I plunge into rehabilitation and focus on my recovery,” wrote Mir. “It’s just another challenge that I intend to overcome, and I am determined to come back stronger, both mentally and physically than ever.”

It was announced in December that Mir, 45, had signed with the Néissé Global Fight League. Last month, the GFL announced that Mir would fight its other former UFC champion, Fabricio Werdum, during an event without a meeting, location or confirmed place.

Mir has not contributed since Bellator 231 in October 2019, when he won a unanimous decision against Roy Nelson. This victory managed a sequence of four defeats.

MIR made its professional debut in MMA in 2001.
