The first change of title of the UFC in 2025 occurred on Saturday at the UFC 313 when Magomed Ankalaev destroyed Alex Pereira from the light heavy belt in the main event.

Ankalaev (21-1-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC) produced his elusive gold shot when he exceeded Pereira (12-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) by a unanimous decision at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, marking the end of a magical “poatan” in the weight class.

Given what Pereira accomplished during his reign, talking about an immediate revenge match came when the CEO of the UFC, Dana White, wrapped the belt around the size of Ankalaev.

Will this happen, however, or should the promotion go in a different direction with its new champion?

Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on the future for Ankalaev and Pereira in the benefits of the UFC 313.
