Israel Adesanya simply has no time for a useless drama.
Although it is one of the fiercest competitors in octagon and widely considered one of the largest average weight champions in UFC history, Adesanya does not hold animosity for any of His former opponents, whatever the result in their fights. It has never been more obvious than Adesanya recently added Robert Whittaker to his stable of training partners before sitting next to Alex Pereira at the UFC 312 on Saturday in Australia.
Adesanya engaged in six fights in two sports with Pereira and Whittaker, but he prefers to consider them as allies that enemies for the future.
“With all these guys, what hates Alex or hates Rob or someone else for me?” Adesanya said during an appearance at the UFC 312. “It doesn’t use me at all. It’s just poisoning. I hold hatred in my heart for someone who has evolved. So why would I do I am not this kind of person.
As much as it seemed that Pereira was the Boogeyman who was hiding on every street corner with three victories against Adesanya before their fourth meeting in the UFC, “The Last Stylebender” promises that he never pursues this fight as if that disabled in one way or another.
In fact, Adesanya quickly stressed that Pereira came to the UFC seeking to renew their rivalry after the Brazilian turned his attention full time to MMA after a very successful Kickboxing career.
“I even said to Alex before – as I said earlier, it’s fights, you have to be a man about it,” said Adesanya. “If you are not fighting, you are not a man, you don’t understand, but we got a good one, that’s all. Cool.
“I even told Alex ‘Bro, you beat me in Brazil, it was right, cool. I left you alone. You chased me away. So it’s your problem. It was his fault.
The same goes for Adesanya when he questioned his last opponent Nassourdine Imavov, who knocked him out in the second round of the main event of the Saudi UFC.
While Adesanya manifestly entered this fight with victory in his mind, he does not have any industrial feelings towards Imavov just because he did the work that night.
“People ask me questions about Imavov’s revenge match. I am like why? Said Adesanya. “There is no need for the end of the belt line. Maybe he becomes champion, and I have my way there, but I don’t think I have to get it back.
“This is not how the fights work. This is not how I see it unless it is on a real personal beef shit but no, you have pulled a good one that you beat me or I beat you, good game, we will move forward , we will move forward. “”
Regarding the future, Adesanya is not in a hurry to reserve his next fight with plans to absent, recover from his loss, then he will start to plot his next move.
He was already surprised on Saturday when the UFC learned the news about him that he was going to be inducted at the fame of fame for his legendary fight with Kelvin Gastelum from 2019.
Adesanya appreciated the recognition of one of his battles defining his career, but even in defeat, he knows that he is still making unforgettable moments that live beyond his days in competition at the UFC.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything,” said Adesanya. “The possibility of being able to feel these moments, it does not matter that it is always in history. I make the story even when I lose. I am even grateful to Nassourdine IMAVOV because we drew a just; He beat me. Cool, we continue. I go to the next. I was grateful not to be wounded. Recognizing that my family came to support me. I could take them somewhere like Dubai, and I could just spend time with my brothers and sisters.
“Because I think people expect you to react as they would react, but they don’t understand. You didn’t do what I did. So we are not the same. I was grateful for this moment. Recognizing for the week, and I am also grateful for tonight. “”
