Magomed Ankalaev made Alex Pereira fight at UFC 313, and now he is the new UFC light heavyweight champion.
The main event on Saturday was light on the drama, but at the top of the tension while Ankalaev and Pereira were due methodically for five laps, Ankalaev who won a unanimous decision and claims the title of 205 pounds by Pereira. As expected, Ankalaev mixed the martial arts to defeat Pereira, using pressure, the shot in a timely time and the frustrating grappling to win a victory on the points.
Pereira sought to defend her belt for a fourth consecutive time after the victories with direct elimination in his last three championship fights, but there would be no magic “Poatan” that day.
The best of MMA went to social networks to congratulate Ankalaev, in particular the former champions Khabib Nurmagomedov, Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo, the latter suggesting that he and Pereira should make him go back.
Not everyone was so enthusiastic about Ankalaev’s performance. UFC veteran, Brendan Schaub, described the “waste” decision and wrote that Pereira won three rounds “Clear As Day”.
