Colby Covington is still broken for the fight of Dustin Poirier but does not expect the “ small b * tch ” pathetic to confront him

Colby Covington aims for his return to action in the coming months, but do not expect him to face the former teammate Dustin Poirier despite the bad blood between them.

The acting Welter UFC Welter Interim Welter Champion tackled the potential fight against Poirier during a long question and answer session Posted on his YouTube channel where he was asked about this match that may happen. Covington previously trained with Poirier when the two fighters worked in the best American team in Florida, but their relationship became nasty after Covington separates from the gymnasium.

Although the potential fight has been launched since, Covington says that no one should hold their breath that Poirier has ever encountered it to settle their differences in the octagon.

“No word about Dustin’s fight,” said Covington. “He has been afraid of my shadow for years, since we train together in this old gym. The guy just knows what I bring to the table. He knows he can’t fight me.

“He can’t even have a lucky punch on me. He is not even ready to try like his friend Jorge (Masvidal). At least he tried. Dustin doesn’t even want to try. “”

Covington also had a long-standing beef with Masvidal with these two trying to settle the scoring when they met at UFC 272 in 2022. That evening, Covington won an unbalanced decision, but resentment was certainly not settled, especially after Masvidal attacked his former teammate outside a restaurant in Miami Beach, causing his arrest.

As for Poirier, he had picked up his retirement struggle with the intention of returning to action for a last appearance at the UFC this year.

Covington does not expect him to get the call as an adversary for this fight.

“He will retire knowing that I had his soul and that he did not defend the honor and inheritance of his family,” said Covington. “Dustin is a little coup of couk, he is the bin of the Louisiana marshes and it is a little Pathetic B * TCH.”

Whatever the potential pear tree fight, Covington says that it targets its own return to the UFC as soon as possible. He hopes to have a full training camp this time after accepting a short -term main event against Joaquin Buckley last December which ended with a defeat due to the stop of a doctor after Covington suffered a Horrible cut on his eye.

The opponent does not matter as much as the timing for Covington, who is currently working as one of the assistant coaches of Chael Sonnen in the last season of The ultimate fighter reality TV show.

“I just want to make sure I get a full training camp, so I’m my best,” Covington said. “So people can see the real Colby and we are going to beat anyone in the world when we have a full training camp.

“Whenever I think the UFC has (found) a good opponent, a big opponent, a big name that makes the business, so we are going to go to a 12 -week training camp and bring them all.”
