Canelo Alvarez is at the center of a major boxing drama, with the final result, let’s hope it, a highly anticipated fight with Terence crawford.
A superfight between Alvarez (62-2-2) and Crawford (41-0) seems to be back, after a report was released Thursday from Ring magazine– cut off by the chief of the Riyadh season, Turki Alshikh – that the fight no longer occurred. However, late Thursday evening, Alashikh announcement That Alvarez had rather signed an agreement of four fights with the Riyadh season, and that Alvarez would fight in May for this promotion and would not be involved with Paul or Netflix. Part of Alshikh’s announcement was that the second fight on the Alvarez contract will see him enter the ring with Crawford.

According to EspnThe Alvarez fight against Paul was “at the 1 -meter line” before Alvarez rather signed his agreement with Alashikh. ESPN also pointed out that the first fight of the Riyadh season for Alvarez could take place on May 4, perhaps against Jermall Charlo or Bruno Surace. After this competition, Alvarez would continue to fight Crawford on September 13 in Las Vegas.
Alvarez’s third fight would take place in February 2026 with a Dmitry Bivo Retish in play (ESPN also mentions Hamzah Sheeraz and Chris Eubank Jr. as possible adversaries), and the final fight for his agreement is targeted for October 2026.
For the moment, Paul’s fight does not seem to be part of Aalshikh’s plans. Despite the reports and some cryptic tweets of Paul, neither he nor Alvarez did not directly address their public confrontation.
If Alvarez against Crawford materializes, he would correspond to two of the best boxers book for book Le Monde. Alvarez, the reigning champion of average weights, would have a notable advantage on Crawford, which contributed mainly to Welterweight.
