Jose Delgado showed a huge killer instinct in his first octagon victory against Connor Matthews on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 251.
The signatory of Dana White’s Contender Series Delgado (9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) shone in the featherweight at the UFC apex in Las Vegas when he injured Matthews (7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC ) with a backfist then turning and then a right punch that led to a knockdown. He jumped and rose Mount and then unleashed a burst to put his cold opponent at 2:58 of Tour 1.

After the fight, Delgado expressed his pride in his performance and said he hoped that it was the start of what he expects to be a championship career under the banner of the UFC.
“I am young in this match, but I am 16 years old. Today, I made my dream real. I knew I would catch it. There is no way that I was not. I was going to get this. I want the belt. I have no one to call now. Once I am in the top 15 and I won well, I will call the guys. I’m here to be the best.
