The new report provides an update of Rey Fenix and Malakai Black, which have been associated with WWE in recent months.
In January, Sean Ross Sapp of Combat (through Fightful Select) reported that it is believed that Black ended up with AEW. Subsequent reports are said to have been expected to return to WWE. On February 10, Black was allegedly released from its AEW contract, according to Sappa. Fenix has been absent from the AEW program since July 2024. The injury time was added to his agreement when he was allegedly expected to sign with WWE.
In a new issue The Bulletin of the wrestling observerDave Melter reported that Black was likely to return to WWE immediately. He also stated that they were making plans for Rey Fenix, although his aew departure was not confirmed.
“Aleister Black should return immediately (to WWE),” Meltzer wrote. “They make plans for Rey Fenix, although there was no confirmation, Fenix was released from his AEW contract.” (H/t F4wonline.com)
Rey Fenix has been with AEW since 2019. During his stay with the company, he held the AEW World Tag Team Championship, the World Tagna World Tagno Championship and the World Trios Championship. He also held the AEW International Championship. Fenix’s brother and team partner Penta signed with WWE. He made his debut in January and became a prominent member of the list.
Black had previously had a running in WWE as Malakai Black. Signed with AEW 2021. After the WWE edition. He later won the AEW World Cup in Trios.
