In 2015, Anthony Pettis rose high and had been for years.
Pettis came to the UFC as the last WEC champion on the heels of his famous “Kicktime Showtime” against Benson Henderson. He was surpassed and thwarted by Clay Guida during his beginnings in UFC in mid-2011, but only four fights beat Henderson again to win the light title of the UFC.
Another submission to defense of the title followed, as is a coveted place on a box of batés – a first for an MMA fighter.
But at the UFC 185, on March 14, 2015, Rafael Dos Anjos du Brazil put the light champion of the “ERA showtime” as a light champion. He dominated the champion to win a decision in an upheaval in Dallas.
Pettis had 18-2 to fight. He went 7-12 since the defeat, including a record of 1-4 in the PFL after leaving the UFC. Pettis signed with Global Fight League last December for a return from MMA after having known 1-1 in boxing since its last MMA fight in 2022.
Back Anjos also had a rough sleigh. He has been 8-10 years since he beat Pettis to win the title. He defended the belt once in 2015, but lost it against Eddie Alvarez 16 months after his reign.
However, to beat “Showtime”, Dos Anjos achieved a performance of all time. Discover some of the protruding facts of this fight 10 years ago.
